As a school, we have been awarded the Healthy School Standard which relies on our commitment to continually promoting healthy options and lifestyles for children in their everyday lives.
School meals follow a healthy eating programme and children may bring fruit (fresh or dried) if you wish them to have a mid-morning snack. Children are encouraged to bring water containers to school each day and have regular access to them as the drinking of plenty of water has been proved to be a help to learning. Please do not put fizzy drinks or sweets as part of your child’s packed lunch. We are a strictly NO NUTS school.
It is your decision whether you wish your child to have school dinners or a packed lunch. If you wish to have a mixture of school dinners and packed lunches within the week, this is absolutely fine.
Children are required to choose an option of meat, vegetarian, jacket potato or sandwich for their school dinners. We also have a halal option three times per week. They will choose during registration in the morning and wear a coloured band into the dinner hall which will represent their choice. Please could parents with younger children ensure that they have discussed the options with their child before coming to school so that there is no confusion. A copy of the menu is on our website.
Cost of School Dinners
Reception, years 1 and 2 are entitled to free school meals.
For years 3, 4, 5, 6 and nursery the cost of one week’s dinner money is £12.00 (£2.40 per day)
We ask parents to pay online using our Parentpay system which can be found on www.parentpay.co.uk You will automatically be sent a letter with your child’s activation code on, which will enable you to log on. You will not be charged for a meal if your child is absent from school for some reason. If dinner money has not been received on the Monday, a reminder letter will automatically be sent out to arrange for the dinner money to be paid.
The school kitchen has a 5 star food hygiene rating
