Headteacher's Welcome

Mr Graham

Welcome to Roundhay St. John’s Church of England Primary School website.  I hope that the information here will at least give you a flavour of who we are and what we are about.

We are a Church of England school and so our Christian ethos and vision are central to the life and work of  our school.  We have a long history of serving the local community so families of all the major world faiths, and indeed those of no faith, are part of our school community.

We are often told there is a ‘special’ atmosphere here; our relatively small size helps us to maintain a family feel to the school where everybody knows everybody! We have a wonderful mix of children from so many different cultures and backgrounds and this gives so much richness to everyday life here.

We are situated on the outskirts of Leeds in a very pleasant conservation area in a corner of Roundhay, just south of the park. Children are taught in single age group classes with an average of 30 pupils per class. And we also have our own Nursery which means children can start here with us from the age of 3. Our staff are energetic, dedicated and enjoy being with and working with children.  We form a much larger team of Governors and parents who work together to try to provide the best education for the children at Roundhay St John’s School, in a caring and secure environment.  We are all very committed to meeting the wide variety of needs of our children.

I hope that this website will give you an insight into what life is like at our school, and help you to decide if our school is the right one for your family. We recognise that decision as being extremely important.  On a practical note, we are happy to provide any information on our website in paper format on request.

The best way to find out about us is to come and visit to see the school in action.  I’m sure you will be impressed – I was!

We look forward to meeting you.
